Members of Ensemble du Monde travel to The Bahamas to lead workshops with the Bahamas National Orchestra and Bahamas String Academy. The musicians performed orchestral and chamber music concerts as well as lead several educational events



BAHAMAS - FEBRUARY 2013



Ensemble du Monde travel to The Bahamas to participate as Orchestra-in-Residence and the main performers for the Nassau Music Society’s 2013Festival of Afro-Caribbean Composers sponsored by Atlantis Resort, Alliance française, Société Générale and the United States Embassy.

The musicians performed orchestral and chamber music concerts as well as lead several educational events including the 2013 Bahamas International Symposium on Composers of African & Afro-Caribbean descent.



GUADELOUPE, F.W.I. - APRIL 2011



Ensemble du Monde travel to Guadeloupe to participate as Orchestra-in-Residence for the International Festival Saint-Georges, an international music festival in tribute to Joseph Bologne (1745 - 1799), better known as Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges, a legendary music composer and fencer of African Caribbean descent whoes accomplishments were neglected for many centuries, Saint-Georges is now finally being recognized as a pivotal composer whose influence extended to many great contemporaneous musicians around Europe, including Mozart. Favored by Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI, Saint-Georges he was also an athlete of exceptional ability, one of the greatest fencers of the 18th Century, and a civil rights leader and hero who fought in the French Revolution.

The musicians will performed orchestral and chamber music concerts as well as lead several educational events.
