A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Samuel Thompson leads a versatile musical life that includes solo, chamber music and orchestral performances throughout the United States and Europe, appearing in venues including the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The Music Center at Strathmore, Toronto’s Koerner Hall and the Wortham Theatre Center in Houston.

Samuel made his recital debut in 2006 at the New Haven International Festival of Arts and Ideas in a multimedia staged recital conceived and directed by Peter Webster. He has done concerts at Da Camera of Houston, Pro Arts Collective’s Black Arts Movement Festival (Austin), Chicago's Fazioli Salon Series and WFMT-FM, USC Cares: Renewal Through Music series at the University of South Carolina and the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute.

Mr. Thompson appears regularly with Washington DC’s Great Noise Ensemble. Upcoming performances include Derek Bermel’s Mulatash Stomp at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington DC.
