Principal second violinist of the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Funda Cizmecioglu began her early musical training in Istanbul at the age of five.

She completed her undergraduate studies at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory in Istanbul, and continued her studies at the Mannes College of Music, where she earned both a Masters of Music degree as well as a Professional Studies Diploma. She also holds a Performance Diploma from the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

She has served as concertmaster under renowned conductors such as Kurt Masur and Leonard Slatkin, and collaborate with musicians such as Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Sharon Isbin, and Yo-Yo Ma to name a few. She has also had the opportunity to perform with Peter Gabriel, Frank Sinatra Jr., and Johnny Mathis, and Kanye West in one her frequent appearances on Saturday Night Live.

Most recently, Ms. Cizmecioglu has appeared in solo recitals and in chambermusic throughout New York in venues that include Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
